Cigarette Smoking Responsible for 1 of 5 Deaths

American Lung Association Report Shows 2007 Shaping Up to be a Banner Year for Tobacco Control Policies.

Cigarette smoking has been identified as the number one preventable cause of morbidity and premature mortality worldwide. Smoking is responsible for approximately one in five deaths in the United States. From 1997 to 2001, smoking killed an estimated 438,000 people in the United States each year. This includes an estimated 259,494 male and 178,404 female deaths annually. Among adults, the three leading specific causes of smoking attributable deaths were from lung cancer (123,836), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (90,582) and ischemic heart disease (86,801).

These statistics alone ought to be reason enough to warrant strong tobacco control laws such as cigarette tax increases and increased funding for tobacco prevention programs, but every year new studies show that the harmful effects of smoking not only effect the smoker, but also the workers and general public exposed to secondhand smoke.

This website is home to the online version of State Legislated Actions on Tobacco Issues (SLATI), which tracks state tobacco control laws, such as state restrictions on smoking in public places and workplaces and state tobacco taxes, on an ongoing basis. It is the only resource of its kind in tobacco control today providing up-to-date information on tobacco control laws in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. You can learn more about SLATI here.

Below is a list of just some of the reports and information on tobacco control laws and policy found on this site. Please explore the various areas and learn how to get involved in the important fight for strong tobacco control laws and policies. As many of the inspirational people who are living with lung disease will tell you, it’s a fight we cannot afford to lose.

Living With Old Age And Stress...

Living With Old Age And Stress...
There are two kinds of old ages. Old age of the physical body and old age of the mental body. Nobody can stop the aging process of the physical body. But it is possible for you to keep the mind agile and active to a great extent.

There are two kinds of old ages. Old age of the physical body and old age of the mental body. Nobody can stop the aging process of the physical body. But it is possible for you to keep the mind agile and active to a great extent.

Any individual who can meet the challenges of old age, is the real hero in life. If you are seventy years of age, don't think that you are seventy. Think that you are twenty. For, they say, fifty is the youth of old age.

The real problem of old age comes, if you are isolated. If you are part of the family and if your spouse is supportive, children helpful, have grandchildren to play with, where could stress find place in your life?

Such grandfathers/grandmothers are capable of cracking jokes against others/amongst others/ and against their own selves!

And those who can crack jokes against their own personality, are the strongest individuals and stress won't bother them at all! For laugher is contagious. If you laugh, you make others too laugh!

Your retirement date is just a few months away. You are under great stress. How would be the life like? You feel that it is full of uncertainties. But I have met many people, who are leading a very happy post-retirement life. It is the beginning of a new life. The real life has begun after the retirement, they say. And if you have carefully planned your retirement life, with proper financial planning, your family members will be more considerate to you, as they know that you have a sound bank balance!

Old age is not an accident of life. It is an unavoidable incident of life. You know that it is coming. It has to come! So, why worry over the inevitable? But, if you don't make proper plans for your retirement, you are to blame yourself for that.

Even after retirement, you need to have a proper time-management budget. No doubt, you don't have office schedule or the bothersome business schedule. You have lots of time to waste!

Yet you must formulate the art of remaining busy in style, without the stress on your body and mind. You have the experience of the whole life behind you and therefore it is possible for you to confidently chalk out a plan for meeting the possible stress. You have the capability and experience, to treat stress as a joke!

Yes, life is a comedy for those who have the capacity to enjoy!

The Key to Sexy Lingerie

by Mike Harader

Blurt out the words “Sexy Lingerie” and images of open bust bras and crotch-less panties often come to mind! However, there is much more to sexy lingerie than this very small representation.

Sexy lingerie has the ability to transform what might be considered an average body into something more. The key to unlocking the power of lingerie is to use it to accentuate the most positive features of the woman who is wearing it.

Women would be wise to remember that men are visual creatures. By accentuating a woman’s’ most attractive features in a visually appealing way, she can count on getting a positive response from her male suitor every time.

Wearing sexy and appealing lingerie can help to boost a woman’s self-confidence in her body thus enhancing her overall attitude, presence and appearance.

Additionally, lingerie today is much more comfortable to wear than in the past. With the advancement in the popularity of lingerie has also come a very beneficial side effect known as comfort.

Newer materials and better designs focused not just on the males visual gratification, but also on the woman’s’ comfort have made it even more desirable for women to wrap themselves in a sexy and fashionable lingerie outfit.

Items such as sexy bras can make the most of any breast whether ample or petite. A sexy stretch lace baby doll can help bring the bust to the forefront and make the mid section more subdued. A sexy pair of booty shorts can help to accentuate the buttocks while a pair of sexy stockings can bring attention to that great set of legs.

Wearing beautiful, comfortable and sexy lingerie has several positive effects on the person wearing it. By making you feel sexy and sensual you will exude an air of confidence in your sexuality that can be sensed by all onlookers.

Remember, the key to wearing Sexy Lingerie is to focus on the most attractive parts of your body. Find the area or areas that flatter you the most and look for the right lingerie that highlights those particular areas.

Are You Still In?

Are You Still In?
- by Stuart Goldsmith
(c) 2005 Stuart Goldsmith - Worldwide Rights Reserved

Still interested? Still want to make a few million?

Good. You're my kind of person. You're prepared to fight this injustice and win or go down trying.

Are you a docile factory farm animal to be milked by the government? No. The very thought makes you angry.

Are you prepared to settle for a life of third-rate mediocrity? No. The thought makes you sick. Do you wallow in the warm human soup of vapid companionship? Do you compete with others to see who can be the more ordinary? Do you crave to be liked by all, even strangers? No? I'm very pleased to hear it.

Wouldn't it be a shame if you died not having achieved something of note? Imagine a life just like billions of others before and after you - sleeping, eating, shopping, mowing the lawn, polishing the car; until one day...you clutch your hand to your chest and slump forward head-first into the supermarket trolley. Clang!

I might be unusual. Weird even. A quick poll around ten friends and family revealed a grand total of....zero people who felt anything similar. When questioned, none of them had life-plans which were grander than the possibility of a new patio by 2005. No ambitions. No drive. No enthusiasm. Nothing. Are your friends the same?

About ten billion humans in total have lived and died on this planet since the crust became cool enough to walk on without getting burnt toes. Interestingly, that's not much more than double the number of people who are living today. That's exponentials for you - the sneaky little devils...

How many of those ten billion did anything of note during their lives? A tenth of one percent? What about the rest?

Well, incredibly they were willing to squander their irreplaceable, limited, precious life-span in dull, repetitive, mind-numbing boredom. And in many cases, this was a choice - it was not an imposition.

These faceless, nameless millions left nothing behind them apart from a new generation of the same. They are all gone now; their names forgotten. They pushed humanity forward by not one millimeter. Instead, they contented themselves with enjoying the benefits created for them by others. They were born; they consumed; they died.

Look around you. Talk to people. Do they have any burning ambitions? Any creative energy? Do they wish to leave their mark? To push humanity forward in some small way? Or are you surrounded by a new generation of gray masses who live off the talents of others?

People who drive around in a machine invented by someone else - if they were to devote their entire lives to the task, they could not produce one tire for that vehicle, let alone the complete machine - and yet they complain about how often it needs servicing.

People who use telephones, TV sets, computers, videos and the like without even the vaguest of ideas about how they work, or what sweat, ingenuity and daring went into producing these miracles - all they can do is complain about Microsoft and opine that it should be stripped down to a shell and sold off for the benefit of 'the consumer.'

People who wear superb clothes when their own skills do not extend past a little crude hand-knitting, if that. People who load groaning trolleys full of top-class produce at the supermarket and moan about the 'rip-off' prices, when their own farming abilities don't run to more than a little mustard and cress and a few thin, strange-looking carrots.

People who use money and banking services, who cannot even balance their own statement and yet moan about "rip-off bank profits" and complain to their local politician if their bank charges them $30 for writing a letter.

Okay, not everyone has to know how to design a car or invent a new farming method, but are these people producing equivalent new creative goods and services themselves?

Are these people constantly amazed at the astounding array of new goods and services placed at their disposal by others? No they are not! Instead, they complain about the few percent of people who made all this possible for them - the rich, 'fat-cat' industrialists, distributors, marketers, etc. who dare to take recompense for their efforts.

Many people demand the 'right' to be allowed to consume the fruits of the industrialist's ingenuity, but they also want them broken and impoverished and their 'obscene' wealth divided up amongst the 'needy.'

I mention all of this because you will be on the receiving end of this when you make some decent money. This is the nature of our society.

We are ruled by third-raters on behalf of the mediocre. True ability is punished for daring to presume to be better than the lowest common denominator. The tools of punishment are draconian taxation (state theft backed by naked force) and press ridicule. Notice in the press how anyone who is not actually destitute is described as being a 'fat cat' and living in a mansion?

Sunday letter

The Sunday Email

It's been such a long time since I have a wonderful weekend.

I'm going to write a story for you to read...a true one... with a lesson to it. Now, either you'll pick up a value out of it or not, I have no clue because I want you to 'feel' it.

If you want to skip this and head down to some marketing tips I have to share, just scroll several paragraphs down. You'll see it.

As I was saying earlier... I'm having such a wonderful weekend.

You see, I've just bought a new mobile phone that can download emails by using the 3G technology. So whenever I was away from my laptop, I CAN STILL check my emails. If they're important, I can even reply them instantly.

The MAIN REASON why I'm always in front of my computer is because I can't stop to check emails – Sounds crazy, but it has becomea bad habit of mine ... to download emails as often as each hour!

"Is my customers emailing to me about their download link?"

"Did I make a few sales 15 minutes ago?"

"What new offer is coming up from my competitors?"

"Did someone just send a testimonial to me?"

"Did someone just emailed a complain over?"

"Did my JV partners reply yet?"

"Is my subscriber replying to my emails?"

Trust me – there are tons of issues that emails can bring. It has become a habit. A not-so-good one, I'll say.

So now you can imagine – with this new mobile phone of mine, I'm no longer worried of not reading any 'important' emails. I can be sipping a coffee far away or watching a movie in the cinema without worries. That WAS A GREAT relieve.

Then, I bought a PSP game console 3 days ago.

I don't have to explain what happened next, do I?

I'm having fun playing it. Time flies especially when you're having fun.

In fact, I wasn't 'working' much since last week.

Suddenly, I got worried. Darn. I need to get back on track!

"Hold on, bucko."

"What track?" I asked myself.

The never-ending working track.

The thing is... we get caught with our work so much, we didn't realize what's going on. I'm sorry,I shouldn't be using the word 'we' because maybe, I'm the only person foolishly experiencing this.

So this leads me to the question of...

"What's the purpose of working so hard to make money online in the first place?"

So that you can have time to play PSP games. I means, that's my case. Of course, that's being 'symbolic'.

The thing is... it'll never end. You gotta control yourself and smell the roses, once in a while.

Making money online is important. No deny to that. But you can always make money and still, have a stress-free life.

"Sucks. My competitor has just launched a new product to sell online."

You know, you and me subscribed to tons of mailing lists. God knows if I beat you to having more list subscriptions or not.

Even if you don't have a competitor yet... you'll receive new offers of products to buy.

And you know how many of them. You see, I'm not going to hide the fact that we receive a lot of sales pitch everyday from our emails.

Is there anything wrong with that?

Nope. I've volunteered to subscribe and always looking forward to read the sales offer because I can improve myself.

Are they good? Yeah... but most of them are just the same, good ol' stuff. Bla, bla, bla... bla, bla, bla.

I know I'm just shooting myself in the foot by saying this because I'll be sending offers to you in the future. But hey, someone got to be honest here, right? But one thing for sure -- I'm only interested in sending offers out that will provide great values for you.

If you buy, great! Thank you very much for your support. I truly appreciate your purchase. Really. I really do.

But if you don't buy, that's fine too because I was not able to offer the value that you want. Secondly, I don't want to rely my income from sending offers to my list only. I rather focus on having multiple internet income streams and some offline business ventures such as real estate, etc.

So what's the deal here?

Let them do whatever they want to do. You just take care what you want to achieve. Period.

And stick to it!

If my competitors are going to launch a newproduct, that's awesome. I might even promote or order their products. The thing is --The real fact is -- It's not going to effect my income. I'll still be making the same amount of money I've made last month, plus minus.

Sure, they'll make more than me. But... who cares!

Ok. Sounds like a loser talk or trying to console myself that the competition is too stiff? That would be childish of me to think that way. Honestly, I really can't be bothered. It's not about the feeling of 'losing' but having an 'abundance' mindset.

Now the word 'abundance' carries a strong weight. I mean, yes to me.

You see, I'm developing a new internet marketing course at this moment of time. It's going to take a while to be completed and most of my competitors will beat me to it. That's ok because everything is... abundance.

At the same time, I'm building more Adsense sites to have additional source of internet incomes.

*Note*: To learn how to make money from Google Adsense, go to http://www.publishingbusinesssecrets.com

And... I'm researching new affiliate programs to promote and setting up Adwords campaigns from Monday to Friday that will give me more multiple internet income streams WITHOUT,competing for the same "internet marketing" pie.

Hint: There are only 2 reasons why an internet marketing guru emails a lot of times to their list: i) They're very passionate to help you and I've seen a lot of these good people. If you're one of them reading this, you'll know I'm referring to you, my friend. ii) That's their main income online and I've seen a lot of these people too.

So what are the lessons here?

You figure them out, this round.

If you can't think of any, drop me an email at support@youchandoit.com and I'll tell you.

Now let's talk about today's marketing tip.

In general, most marketers will advice to avoid sending out an email to your list on Sundays. But the truth is, there's no general rule to it. Some of the marketers are preaching that because that's what they hear from another marketer who truly run a test on his own list to determine the truth. And it works for him.

End of the day, it all zoom-in to testing.

Each list has different characteristics. Your listhave different characteristics than mine.

For instance, I know that most of my subscribers don't like to go to a 'squeeze page'. My sales will drop. Sales will increase if I'm sending them directly to a full-blown salesletter.

Testing is one thing but positioning it is another story.

Speaking of story... convey your marketing messages in a way how a story is being told.

See, I might not have gotten you to read today's post if it wasn't a story. I mean, it's such a beautiful Sunday – The LAST THING that any man or woman wants to do on their Sunday time is to 'work' or read business-related emails.

Side note: You might be downloading this email onMonday. So the example above is for those who is reading on Sunday.

But reading a story is different than reading a dull business article.

A story can be entertaining... interesting...or to the extend, attractive. Sometimes, they are fun too.

But most importantly-- give value in your story.People want to get something in return after reading it. If you're in the 'teaching' niche, they should learn something new from your story.

In writing sales copy or marketing messages, I highly suggest that you write it as personal as possible to create a bonding relationship. The main reason is... a personal note will always be more interesting. You would be excited to read a personal message from your friend compared to a non-personal message from the CEO of your credit card company, right? An article is normally bored irregardless that it's packed with good content. I said bored, not useless.

Now... if you're writing a personal note that they can learn something as well after reading it, they,ll be happy and smarter!

How good is that? A personal-touch article.

Being personal in written text can be shined in many ways.

For instance, speak up what you have in your mind. Be who you are because it's you that your prospect is 'buying'. They are investing in you to listen to what you have to recommend.

Add in your personal touch. I have an example but this is not the best one to give and it won't apply to everyone:

You'll notice that there are several grammatical errors in this post. I;m not doing this on purpose but I'm leaving it as it is to let my readers know that this is from me. It's ME.

Ok. Have a superb Sunday. (smile)
